Christine Shea is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) recognized by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). Christine earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Rutgers University before obtaining her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Christine works with clients of all ages, providing support for a variety of presenting concerns. Her professional experience spans across individual, group, family, and couples counseling, as well as working with diverse populations from early childhood through adulthood. She has practiced in outpatient settings and partial hospitalization programs (PHP), specializing in treating adolescents and adults with substance use and co-occurring disorders.
Christine believes in a collaborative and empowering therapeutic relationship, encouraging clients to explore their challenges and discover answers within themselves. She fosters self-awareness and creates a non-judgmental, empathetic space for growth, where clients feel safe and supported. Christine incorporates creative and evidence-based therapeutic approaches tailored to individual needs, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT-informed), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play/Art Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, and Mindfulness Techniques. Her specialties include anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment disorders, relational conflict, and self-esteem challenges. Christine’s passion for mental health stems from her own journey of personal growth, and she finds fulfillment in guiding clients through their unique paths of self-discovery.
In her free time, Christine enjoys cooking, baking, antiquing, gardening, and crafting. She prioritizes mindfulness and creative self-care, often integrating these practices into her therapeutic work to meet the unique needs of her clients. Christine also values spending quality time with family and friends, embracing life’s simple joys and meaningful connections.
