Dr. Boss is a licensed psychologist in the State of New Jersey. She is Clinical Director at the Center for NeuroWellness and administers psychological and educational evaluations. Dr. Boss has a strong interest in assessment, as she believes that such evaluations help guide treatment plans and interventions, highlight strengths and areas for improvement, and increase the overall understanding of patients as unique individuals with varied needs. Dr. Boss works with children, adolescents, and adults and is well versed in assessment and diagnosis. She evaluates individuals with a variety of presenting concerns including ADHD, learning disorders, behavioral difficulties, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, and bipolar disorders.
Dr. Boss received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Gettysburg College, a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology with a concentration in Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychology from Montclair State University, and Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychology from the University of Hartford. She was awarded the Program Excellence and Service Award in her doctoral program.
Prior to joining the Center for NeuroWellness, Dr. Boss was licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia where she worked as a Staff Psychologist at Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board in Hampton, VA. While at H-NNCSB, she conducted psychological evaluations (e.g., child and adolescent evaluations; court-ordered parental capacity evaluations; pre-employment evaluations for individuals applying for armed security positions with NASA). She also supervised doctoral students completing their practicum experiences at the agency. At the H-NNCSB she worked on multi-disciplinary teams that included psychiatrists, psychotherapists, social workers, case managers, and any other individuals pertinent to her patients.
Dr. Boss completed her APA-accredited doctoral internship at the John L. Gildner Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents (JLG-RICA) in Rockville, MD, which is a residential and day treatment facility serving children and adolescents with emotional disabilities. While there, she provided individual, family, and group therapy, and she completed psychological evaluations (including intellectual, personality, and educational assessments). Dr. Boss also held the position of Care Manager Supervisor at Families and Communities Together, Inc. in Mountainside, NJ, where she oversaw the care of many families with children who have behavioral and emotional difficulties. She also completed practicum work in the Pediatric Department of St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT, providing individual psychotherapy and at Wheeler Clinic’s Northwest Village School in Plainville, CT, providing individual and group psychotherapy, milieu intervention, and psychological evaluations.
Dr. Boss completed her doctoral dissertation on mandated reporting of child maltreatment and has participated in additional research on positive and negative messages included in television commercials viewed by children that has been published in peer-reviewed journals. She has experience as a teaching assistant for doctoral courses including Experimental Methods and Advanced Research Design. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and New Jersey Psychological Association.
In her free time, Dr. Boss enjoys spending time with her family, reading, eating out and trying new restaurants, watching her favorite shows on Netflix and Hulu, and going to the beach. She is an animal lover and especially loves dogs. Fun fact ~ she loves anything and everything lavender!
