Kristen Marcaly, Psy.D.

Dr. Kristen Marcaly, Psy.D. is a clinical psychologist licensed in New Jersey as well as Oregon. She enjoys working with children, adolescents, and young adults along with their families to help them improve overall well-being and reach their specific therapy goals. Dr. Marcaly specializes in the areas of trauma and PTSD, adjustment disorders, attachment disorders, ADHD, Autism, anxiety, depression and mood disorders, improving caregiver-child relationships, and behavioral or conduct difficulties.

Dr. Marcaly received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology and Philosophy from Rutgers University. She earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree and a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychology from the University of Hartford. Dr. Marcaly completed her APA-accredited doctoral internship and post-doctorate hours at Morrison Child and Family Services (MCFS), a non-profit community mental health agency in Portland, Oregon. At MCFS she provided individual, family, and group therapy, and completed psychological evaluations with children ages 2 to 21 years old. She became licensed in Oregon and went on to become a clinical supervisor at MCFS as well.

Throughout her training and career, Dr. Marcaly has worked in a range of settings including schools and daycare centers, community mental health agencies, a pediatric care clinic, an adult state psychiatric hospital, a state prison, academia, and pediatric outpatient/hospitals providing her with a unique perspective. While Dr. Marcaly has specialized in working with children and adolescents, she also enjoys working with parents and adults as well.

Most recently and prior to joining the Center for NeuroWellness, Dr. Marcaly worked at Children’s Specialized Hospital providing outpatient psychotherapy services for children from birth to 21 years of age with or without special health challenges including chronic illnesses, complex physical disabilities, and/or developmental and behavioral issues. She also conducted psychological evaluations including Autism Evaluations. Dr. Marcaly also recently worked at the Children’s Center for Resilience and Trauma Recovery at Rutgers University providing clinical trainings for a range of professionals and therapists.

In her free time, Dr. Marcaly can often be found laughing with her family, going on adventures in the great outdoors including hiking or camping, dreaming up her next vacation, working out of her test kitchen to find a tasty recipe, trying new food at a local spot or festival, or going for walks with her dog Sassy.
