Michelle Foster, LPC, Ed.D.

Dr. Foster is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of New Jersey. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. She earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Georgia School of Professional Psychology in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Foster received her Doctorate in Education from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida specializing in Children and Family services.

Dr. Foster has experience working in public, private and therapeutic k-12 educational settings counseling students with a variety of social, emotional and learning needs. She worked collaboratively with teachers, Child Study team and students’ family members to ensure the most appropriate support for each student.

Prior to joining the Center for NeuroWellness, Dr. Foster worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor for Ocean Township Department of Human Services in Ocean, NJ.  While there, she provided school-based services, individual, family and group counseling as well as parenting classes and court ordered family-child visitations.  She worked closely with multi-disciplinary professionals within the community to provide necessary support to those clients in need.

Areas of interest include anxiety and depressive disorders, personality disorders, PTSD, ADHD, learning and developmental disorders and autism spectrum disorders (ASD) as well as counseling to address relationship conflicts and adjustment to stress and life transitions. Dr. Foster is a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist and has a certificate of completion in use of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale 2 (ADOS-2). In addition, Dr. Foster holds a Teacher of Psychology certificate for the State of New Jersey and has enjoyed teaching Psychology courses at the college level.

Dr. Foster provides a comfortable and supportive atmosphere whether in the office or through Telemedicine. She offers a tailored experience focused on individual client needs through a collaborative and integrative approach to treatment with a foundation in cognitive behavioral therapy. She enjoys using creative strategies to allow clients to connect authentically to their experiences and develop healthier thinking and coping techniques.
