Shannon Hensel, MS, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor who provides therapy at the Center for NeuroWellness and also serves as the Psychometry Training and Quality Coordinator. In her role, Shannon works with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, offering counseling and psychometry services while also leading the training and oversight of psychometrists. She ensures testing procedures are consistent, accurate, and aligned with best practices, helping maintain the highest standards for assessment services.
Her professional experience includes providing psychotherapy to individuals and couples in private practice settings as well as assisting with psychological testing services in a pediatric hospital. Shannon is trained in the administration of a range of psychological and neuropsychological assessments, as well as evidence-based approaches to therapy. She is passionate about the field of psychology and mental health, approaching every client interaction with compassion, respect, and a commitment to ethical, client-centered care.
Shannon works from the belief that each person experiences the world in their own unique way and tailors her approach to meet those individual needs. She draws from multiple therapeutic modalities, including Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Psychodynamic Therapy. She strives to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can feel heard, understood, and supported in their growth.
Shannon earned both her Master of Science in Clinical Professional Counseling and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology, from Loyola University Maryland. While there, she also facilitated psychoeducational groups focused on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Outside of her work, Shannon enjoys hiking, playing tennis, and spending time with loved ones.
