Autism Spectrum Evaluations

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder, and its symptoms occur on a continuum as is suggested by the term “spectrum”. Many individuals can lead productive lives and receive education, maintain employment, and fulfill daily responsibilities and functions with differing levels of support. However, others experience considerable impairments in functioning, intellectual abilities, and social interactions. They may need greater support and aid throughout their lives.

At Shore Neuropsychology and Behavioral Health, we offer autism screening and full psychological evaluations that include the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule 2nd Edition. This assessment can provide an accurate diagnosis of ASD and can serve as a roadmap to help navigate treatment. Such evaluations are comprehensive, and they assess the child’s strengths and areas that are lacking. With information about your child’s cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and adaptive domains, our team can provide sound recommendations to accommodate their needs. Recommendation and treatment plans may include information regarding ABA therapy and other necessary adjustments based on the child’s strengths and challenges.

Because ASD is lifelong, our team will work with you to create individualized treatment plans that will set your child and family up for success. Treatment plans may continue to change when your child is starting school and becoming an adolescent or an adult. Ongoing re-evaluations can be helpful with transitions and help not only the child but their family as well.
